Who uses the Application for Customary Land Rights?
Any Botswana citizen who wants to acquire the customary rights to a land plot owned by the state or a tribe, uses the Application for Customary Land Rights (the Application). Applications for state land residential plots are free of charge and only open to Botswana holding a valid Oman ID and above the age of 18.
What information should be provided?
The applicant provides the following information:

postal address;

telephone number;

date of birth;

age;
-
gender;
-
citizenship of Botswana (yes/no);

ID number;
-
marital status;
-
name of the spouse;
-
place where the land plot is situated;

present use of the land plot;

size of the land plot;
-
proposed use (residential, farming, cemetery, other);

names of the owners of the land bordering the land plot whom the applicant has consulted; and
-
any other land rights the applicant has in Botswana;
The applicant signs and dates the application.
Where do I send the Application?
Allocation of tribal lands in all the Villages in Botswana is done by the 12 Main Land Boards and their subordinate land boards. The applicants are expected to submit the Application to the land board in response to an invitation to apply.
